    What are browser cookies?

In case you don’t know, cookies are nothing but small encrypted text files that contain helpful data stored by sites to provide efficient navigation and other features. For example, when you do things like log into a site, comment, leave a like, select a specific option, configure user specific option, etc., the target website will set a cookie to remember that. When you visit the same website in the future, it will see that cookie and improve your experience by matching your preferences.

In addition to that, the cookies are also used to track user behavior by many advertising companies. That is one of the reasons why you see ads related to your previous searches.
